Environmental Law Officer/Researcher

Kum Carlos is a Ph.D. Student 3rd year at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Bamenda Cameroon. He holds a LL.B in law and an LL.M in Environmental Law from the University of Bamenda. His research focused on the Legal Provisions for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Cameroon.  Kum is passionate about effective and inclusive forest governance, human rights especially for indigenous communities, and environmental sustainability as a whole. He has professional experience in common law as a para-legal for over 3years now.

 

He has also dedicated his knowledge and experience of law in catalyzing community driven conservation projects in the Kagwene Wildlife Sanctuary, and promoted food security programmes for local communities for over 3years. His mission is to advocate for a holistic approach in environmental protection policies and projects. He also educates and empowers grassroots communities on their land rights, forest rights, and creates self-conscious communities that see the preservation of the forest and wildlife as a duty and right. He demonstrates his passion for a sustainable environment through academic research and action projects. He further serves an assistant field officer and legal adviser for CEPOW in project execution.
